Sheila, from Hamer in Rochdale , ... had a heart attack and has been in a coma for more than a month.

But healthcare company ATOS, which is used by the Department for Work and Pensions to assess those suitable for work under a benefits provision shake-up, has now sent her a letter to assess her fitness to do a job.

You can't fault the DWP and ATOS for their sheer determination to get these people off the dole. There's only a slight snag there though.

UK job vacancies [1] from October to December 2013 were 569,000. The claimant count [2] of those seeking benefits primarily for the reason of being unemployed in December 2013 was 1.25 million.
