The UK Prime Minister David Cameron has come out in support of fracking and is providing financial incentives to councils who allow fracking to take place.
I'm not close enough to the fracking debate to know whether the controls being proposed in the UK go far enough to protect the environment but I think that if fracking does take off and significantly reduces the price of fossil fuels then it will remove any incentive to develop alternatives or to improve efficiency. This decision indicates to me that the Conservative party has no interest in the environment.
