And this is why I am starting to hate Samsung

Well they decided to force an update on us. OK, should be any big deal. I'm sure some folks will have issues here and there but most updates don't do much that is bad.

Wrong.

See, Android already has an issue with notifications. It skips some. It leaves some things lingering (like saying you have a 'new' voice mail that is actually from 2 weeks ago). So did this update fix anything?

Nope. made it worse.

Now first of all they turned the volume down by default on notifications. OK, np except that you know what is now under the category of notifications?

Text messages.

So now I have a wonderful choice - I can keep the volume up so I can hear the text message alert - and ten get woken by every email that shows up in my mailbox, or I can turn the notification volume down and miss the messages.

Oh, for fun, Samsung decided that your phone's flashbulb should also go off when you get a notification. Thanks guys. I guess hearing it wasn't enough. Can't find a way to turn that off, either.

There might be a way to separate the sounds, but if there is it is anything but intuitive.

I'll start the countdown to when someone explains that all the problems would be solved if I just downloaded a non-default notification app or something?

But hey! Big screen amiright?
