It looks like the shutdown is going to cost the GOP at least three districts in California. CA-10 (Jeff Denham), CA-31 (Gary Miller), CA-25 (Buck McKeon) all won in the last election behind Tea Party support but now trail in polls to generic Democrat challengers.
I, for one, am happy with this as one of them is my own house representative and I hate him with the burning fury of a thousand Rigel blue supergiant stars.
Speculation: gerrymandering might save them in some districts but it can't save Republican candidates in all districts. I suspect they will lose just enough house seats that it will be all Blue come 2015.
