A Utah man named Scott Haven was found to have made more than 1,000 phone calls to Congresspersons in the last three years, most of them being profanity-laden rants about Democrats who criticized the president, and a few in which he made graphic threats to kill the person whose office he called.
Haven was not intimidated when his threat-calls started being transferred directly to federal agents. From the charging document:

TAS Special Agent Anyaso spoke with the caller and, despite Special Agent Anyaso identifying himself as a Federal Law Enforcement Agent, the caller called Special Agent Anyaso a "****" several times. A few minutes into the call, the caller made the following statement: "Come arrest me! I would like to ******* beat the **** out of you for trying!" Special Agent Anyaso asked the caller if he was threatening a Federal Agent, at which point the caller stated, "What are you going to do?" |

He was arrested Tuesday in his hometown of Kaysville, Utah, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Salt Lake City. He is charged with interstate transmission of threats to injure. State online records indicate he has no criminal history in Utah. Havens court-appointed attorney, Robert Steele, did not immediately return phone and email messages seeking comment. At his initial hearing Wednesday, a magistrate judge ordered Haven to remain jailed pending the outcome of the case, calling him a danger to the community. |
