Came across this a little while back and seems to make a lot of sense from a sceptical point of view.
Put simply, one ought not to changes to the an existing state of affairs without first understanding why things are the way they are.

Topically, there's a glaring example of why it matters: Brexit. Though I don't think we need discuss that here, as there are existing threads.
But I was wondering what other obvious examples where this maxim would be/would have been useful to follow.
