I've been a member a long time and out of sense politeness I'll make a short summation of a rather long post so not to waste anybody's time.
I was totally paralyzed
Almost died
On a ventilator
Massive amounts of pain meds
My brain made up incredibly real worlds while deep under
So I can sort of understand the belief in the supernatural because of it
I recently survived a very serious illness, Guillain-Barré-syndrome
Guillain-Barré-syndrome (GBS) is a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system in my case all of it.
I of course picked a variation that completely destroys the nerves (Miller-Fisher syndrome)
One day I was fixing the brakes on my Buick the next day I was paralyzed from the eyes down and on full life support.
It was a nightmare
A thing that really sucks, being paralyzed is FREAKING PAINFUL and I don't mean sprained ankle painful I mean entire body subjected to electric shocks and fire and a sprained ankle all at the same time, you can only bare it by getting large doses of IV pain meds, Fentanyl and Morphine and that only took the edge off it.
So I was on a ventilator unable to move or communicate (FYI: the blinking eye thing is ********), tube fed, with catheters coming out of the lemonade stand and the fudge factory, one of the worst things was that my right eye would not shut and I could not get them to turn off the TV, this lasted two months approx.
Fortunately you recover mostly, it a took a year, lots of PT, still on pain meds and about 5 other drugs for various things.
So what I want to say here is when you're deep under like, that you really hallucinate, and I don't mean WOW LOOK AT THE COLORS OH I SEE TRAILS, your brain creates a reality for you that seems completely real, you can feel, taste, smell (CREATE A HISTORY OF THAT LITTLE WORLD) and yes, phantom limbs.
It wasn't a series of random dream like states, no, I kept going to back to four very different Worlds.
I of course I realize that dreams also can feel very real, I've had plenty, but even the most realistic dream the memory of it becomes vaporous almost as soon as you wake. You can always tell it was a dream (I dislike the always/never statement)
Now I wasn't an Amazon battle queen fighting orcs (but if it ever happens again I'll try to do that one) mostly it was responding to the limited physical stimuli going on as the result of the things they had to do to me for my care. But I created real seeming places where it was all happening. I had long conversations with Doctors ( I had a tube down my throat), I researched my condition on the internet with a laptop and did Google searches (I was completely paralyzed), My house merged with my room in the intensive care unit (5K a DAY bitches) and I was looking for things like wallets and tv remotes.
But two of the kedo worlds were different
This is getting to long so I'll try to wrap it up, one of worlds is a little more vague and obtuse, so I'll skip that one.
But 'kedo world alpha was a full blown life, where I was a first person participant, with a history, emotions, regrets, ambitions, friends and enemy's that I knew and knew their history's.
And I swear on James Randi's beard that I'm not making any of this up but it was basically a SCI FI novel that I lived. Think giant river boat/vehicles traveling around Siberia, a pending war with Japan, the Tunguska artifact both healing and killing people.
And I know that I did ultimately make it all up, but the details of these worlds are not made up, details of the made up are as it was presented to me
Ok so I this has all led me to UNDERSTAND WHY people can believe so deeply in the supernatural. But Kedo no believe in ghost.
Have any of you heard accounts from people who come out of vegetative states and what their minds presented them with (or maybe you have been there).
