The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is located at the South Pole, and observes neutrinos (and cosmic rays, and ...).
"IceCube search for the sterile neutrino draws a blank" is the title of a PR from them, dated 08 Aug 2016 (link). In it there's reference to a PRL paper the PR is based on "Searches for Sterile Neutrinos with the IceCube Detector", M. G. Aartsen et al. (IceCube Collaboration) Phys. Rev. Lett. 117, 071801 Published 8 August 2016 (link to abstract; the paper itself seems to be behind a paywall, does anyone have a way to breach that?)
I've started this thread to discuss this finding. In particular, how it relates to on-going efforts to understand the nature of (cold) dark matter.
