Even when I was in preschool I knew that the story of Santa Claus riding a sleigh lead by flying raindeer and coming down the chimney was false. Even my parents said it wasn't how he really delivers gifts. In fact they gave a simpler explanation: that Santa rides on a motor sled with a sack of presents and has a universal key to every door in the world. Looking back I don't see what's so ridiculous about it. I doubt that only one Santa delivers all the presents and that there is such a thing as a universal key. However it is possible that the governments of every city hire a good citizen every year and give them doubles of keys. Why not? It works well and parents don't grave to worry about getting caught in the middle of the night planting gifts. I don't think my parents were the ones who planted those presents under the tree. Never have I ever ever heard an alarm going off on Christmas night to wake my parents. And we know how hard it is to remember to wake up in the middle of the night.
