For work I need to establish a way of determining the average stay of my clients in our temporary accommodation project.
I want to say that the average stay of our current clients is X number of days. I then want to see how that compares to previous months to see whether we are reducing average stay or it is increasing. This will show how good we are at moving them on into long term accommodation.
I have all the data (start date/end date/ reason for leaving), but what is an honest way of doing this? I get a bit confused as some clients staying here have been here since June of this year, some only a few days. Should I just be doing an average of the stay for all of these clients, whether they have moved out that month or are currently still here? Or should I do an average of just those who have moved out into long term accommodation?
I just want a simple way of knowing whether move on is faster now or slower now than previous months.
