Does not belong as a derail in the other thread.
Yes, 290/232 is a lot closer race than Obama saw.
If Trump isn't a member of the 1%, then the 1% are a lot richer than I thought.
I partially agree with you though.
The U.S. election went to Trump largely becausehis supporters no longer believe everything they hear from corporate controlled mainstream media and because they are totally fed up with the governments dysfunctional behaviour.
The shift from established media sources has been fraught with idiocy. Fake news, satire news reposted as real, extreme and radical politically biased opinion put forth as reporting.
In the past few days I have seen at least 5 items on FB that are patently false. Some are satires that people have not realized are fake. Such as a supposed American Governor stating that Canadians should not be allowed to drive in the USA because they are used to dirt roads not multi-lane interstates (satire), a video supposedly of a holographic demonstration of a whale breaching in a school gymnasium (an ad for what a tech company wants to develop but as yet has not - a Google Glass type device), and claims that Trump actually took the popular vote by a landslide (political bias site - requires that one simply discount a percentage of Clinton votes as fraud, no evidence provided)

It depends on how you look at the results. Looking at the electoral college results for the last five U.S. Presidential Elections, Hillary came in third out of the top five contenders. She came out ahead of Romney and McCain. When Obama ran in 2008, he picked up 365 electoral college votes and 332 in 2012. Hillary received 232 electoral college votes. So how does Trumps 290 electoral college votes compare? Looking at the electoral college results for the last five U.S. Presidential Elections, Trump came in second out of the top five contenders with Obama being the frontrunner. The U.S. election went to Trump largely because his supporters no longer believe everything they hear from corporate controlled mainstream media and because they are totally fed up with the governments dysfunctional behaviour. It was an anti-ONE PERCENTER vote. |
