Are we in danger of repeating the mistakes of the 30s by entering a period of appeasement in order to avoid political conflict either at home or abroad. The approach that somehow the Brexit UK can help keep Trump in check and in NATO feels very like the policy of appeasing Hitler and Mussolini, during 1937 and 1938 by granting continuous concessions in the hope of reaching a point when the democratically elected leaders (but also facist) would be willing to accede to international collaboration. What will we concede to keep the special relationship and any hope of access to free trade in the USA?
