Germany: Cop killed by FOTL-like conspiracist

Quote:

Police say the suspect belongs to the "Reichsbürger" movement, which translates as "Citizens of the Reich." Members deny the existence of the current Federal Republic of Germany, established after World War II, and maintain that the German empire (or 'Reich') continues to exist as it stood in 1937.

Berlin's state intelligence service described the movement in a recent report as "an extremely diverse range of small groups and individuals who believe in an ideological mixture of conspiracy theories, anti-Semitic and anti-democratic views, and who have been behaving increasingly aggressively for some time."

The killer legally owned numerous weapons but lost his license after authorities realized he was nut-job. When police wanted to seize the weapons, he started shooting, killing 1 cop and injuring 3.

The Reichsbürger movement has remarkable parallels to the FOTL/sovcit movement despite the difference in underlying ideology. They are far right (if they aren't too nutty for such labels to apply) and deny the legitimacy of existing government authority.
The parallels are not all coincidental. Sovcit ideas are imported and adapted. Some take on the label of sovereign citizen (souveräner Bürger). They are considered part of the RB movement.
