If the Pope had to vote . . .

With all this brouhaha over the Pope dissing Trump over the idea of a border wall (which I think was largely misinterpreted), it got me thinking about who the Pope would vote for if he were an American citizen. Yes, I understand that the Catholic Church does not involve itself in the politics of the temporal authority...but in this case, he did call out one of our candidates.

But if it came down to it and Trump was running against Clinton or Sanders, I think it's a no-brainer that the Pope would vote Trump all the way given his clear stances on gay marriage and abortion. Those are two no-compromise issues for the Catholic Church while the Church does recognize the rights of temporal authorities to protect their countries and people.

I get into this argument with my Catholic friends all the time. One just ranted about how if you are Catholic like he is, you can't support Trump now. This friend however is a known Hillary supporter so I asked him how he could possibly vote for Hillary given her clear stances on abortion and gay marriage.

So what do y'all think?
