I keep seeing and hearing statements that the GOP has become the party of angry old white guys.
I'm 67, retired, on Social Security and Medicare, and get senior discounts at everyplace that offers them. I believe that qualifies as "old".
I'm about as Caucasian as they come. My ancestry is English, Danish, and German, in that order. I can't even think of another country, and we've done a LOT of genealogical research. (Entirely Protestant, too, at least since that's been a thing.)
Having now lost some weight, I can actually now look down past my belly without bending over too much and verify that I am equipped with male genitalia, and always have been.
And yes, I'm angry. Very angry. I'm angry that the party I grew up supporting (my first presidential vote was for Nixon) has become the party of bigotry, the party of no, the party of the rich, the party of sexism.
Is there any evidence that the GOP's rapid drift to the right is really impelled by guys like me?
