Have checked for and not found any reports/threads on this - if there are, please blend..
While I have a limited purpose for noting this one, it happened in Hickory Hollow mall in Nashville yesterday so I am even more familiar with it than the one in Aurora (place, not the assault).
And, YES I understand some distinctions between the Ohio thing and this one BUT the "gun" in both situations appear to be the same Air-Soft pistol based on the pictures of each. In each case, having that AS plastic pellet gun in hand got someone shot by police - and, in all fairness would have caused me to fire were one pointed in my direction. Honest, at any distance including close up where the barrel would make it appear to be a .22 it looks to be a real auto pistol. And in a situation like that - with it in hand and pointed at you, shooting first is really the only rational response - unless you happen to be a non-weapon martial arts master and pretty close to the person holding the weapon.
AS to the event, if you are in the US you have likely seen the news on it - but if not, yesterday an older guy with a hatchet, a bag of some kind and the (now known fake) pistol. went to the movies, entered the theater, started hitting/trying to hit people with the hatchet and pulled the gun. He fired it at at least one person as people were escaping (most people seem not to be able to use sound to determine whether a pistol is likely to be real or not) and then he fired at a police office, ran out and was removed from the surplus population by a SWAT member.
