Often, when I debate with someone online, I'll have a quick look at their recent posting history just to get a sense of whom I'm addressing. For a while now I've been engaging people on the subject of Apollo hoax claims. Twice recently on YouTube, a couple of months ago and again just this morning, I've come across conspiracy theorists who also spend time posting vitriol regarding women in general. This caused me to remember another individual CTist with the same sort of misogynistic proclivities whom I encountered last year.
I'm not making any claims regarding the prevalence of misogynistic attitudes among conspiracy theorists in general as I certainly don't have enough data to do so. But it struck me as odd that I should encounter three people in such a relatively small community displaying such open contempt for women in general, and I wondered if others with experience regarding conspiracy theorists had noted anything similar, or if my experiences are anomalous.
