When I go to Walmart I don’t see the unwashed, I see my people. The working People who budget carefully to get by. These people wouldn’t be able to buy a scarf in Saks or Bloomingdales. Yet, they support their families. I hate to see them made the butt of jokes and I believe many types of jokes (such as Hillbilly, Redneck, Pollock etc.) are poorly concealed ways to laugh at the poor.
That said, Walmart is a gold mine for comic behavior. I was going thru the checkout and some guys were yelling “ Where’s my green card” and I thought oh lord they think I took it. But they were arguing with each other over their most prized object. The chance to be a American Citizen. Something I take for granted like most of us.
