I am having my first real experience with "cloud computing," and it's a disaster.
I am part of a distributed working group. We are examining a criminal case involving many hours of police interrogation video, spanning 10 DVDs. I ripped them all to AVC/AAC in mp4 containers. These I uploaded to my Google Drive to share with anyone who has the link. The content amounts to 17 gb. Everything seems to be there.
The problem is, nobody can actually gain access to the material, either to view it (the default option, which is not what we want) or to download it (which we definitely need to do). A few of the files are available, but most are not, the downloads fail on network errors, etc.
Has anyone else had experience with Google Drive? I have read so much breathless hype about "cloud computing" that I had actually gotten my hopes up. But the reality is I'm having to send flash drives by U.S. mail.
