Dietary salt and our Biomes

Is everybody aware that sauerkraut is made is a heavily salted brine? Seems the acetobactor that turns the sugars in the cabbage into vinegar are fostered by the salty brine. But the salt does prevent some other, more harmful bacteria from multiplying to hazardous quantities.

So, what if the detriment to a high salt diet is that the salt makes changes to our biome? It barely makes a direct difference in hypertension, something in the realm of 3-5 points. Not much help for me, with a high of 250/170. But could the briny gut cause some problerm with by products of the biome?

Though I'm not even sure that a briny gut has any detriment.
