The infinite Java do loop

I have Java installed on my PC.

I use Chrome as my browser.

I am trouble shooting a problem in connecting with a number of game servers

(steam, LoL, Diablo, Battle.net) all of which indicate that the server and My PC are not taking properly ...

One of the trouble shooting steps with Riot games involves netalyzr

I keep getting a Chrome Prompt that I need to install a plug in.

I then click on "install plug in" and it tells me I need Java.

I have 7.65 Java.

So I try to verify Java on my PC.

I need a plug in, says chrome.

Rinse and repeat.

How do i get out of this terminal do loop?

I have done some reboots and more, but there is a fundamental network setting somewhere running amok.

Related question: how do I identify third party firewalls that may have arrived?

Of course, this all started when I got about 12 Windows updates from Microsoft on the 16th. Usual windows update, I do it every week or so.

That is when the trouble started.

(Monkeying with Windows firewall, IPV versions, and exception lists in Windows firewasll does not fix any of this.)

I am stumped.
