Why is svchost trying to use the internet?

I got fed up with my old firewall constantly glitching and using up all my CPU, so traded it in for a new one. I'm now using Comodo, which many sites have down as the best. It is more sensitive, though, and having just restarted my computer I'm being barraged with pop-ups telling me that svchost is trying to receive a connection from a site, and asking whether I want to let it. The thing is, though, "svchost" is a generic name for a programme hosting a Windows service and I can't tell what each one is. A search for the IP address that's trying to contact the process doesn't enlighten me, either.



So, what's going on? My internet connection starts automatically and I'm running Firefox but, other than that, there should be nothing trying to connect to the internet that I know of.
