The shutdown never would have happened if we enforced the gerrymandering laws

Aside from trying the insurrectionist GOP House for sedition, it's time to enforce the gerrymandering laws.

Over 1 MILLION more votes were cast for Democratic House candidates than for Republican ones. Therefore the house should also be in the hands of the Democrat party.

The only reason it isn't is because of the ridiculously gerrymandered House districts.

We need to either get the courts to clean out the House districts so that there are no "locked in" seats where one party is guaranteed to hold power perpetually or do away with individual districts altogether.

A possible solution along those lines would involve "slate" voting. If a particular state were to (for example) have been apportioned 10 House seats, each party would run a slate of 10 candidates. After the votes were tallied, each party would receive the number of "slots" in the House delegation equal to it's percentage of the direct vote.

Frankly that would be the simplest solution to the House problem, IMO, rather than a protracted court fight trying to untangle hopelessly snarled and locked districts.
