Ed Miliband is the leader of the Labour Party, the largest opposition party in the UK. The Labour party used to be a Socialist party it is now probably a Social Democratic party although it still maintains links with the union movement and has an "awkward squad" of old-fashioned left wingers.
Ed Miliband's father, Ralph Miliband, was a Jewish Marxist academic who left Belgium aged 16 to escape Nazi persecution.
The Daily Mail published an article on Saturday 28 September which claimed, among other things, that Ralph Miliband hated Britain.
Ed Miliband has objected saying that his Father loved Britain for giving him shelter during WWII and the fact that he served in the British Navy showed that he supported Britain.
IMO it's the usual poor standards of journalism from the Daily mail
