Hi - I know we have a number of aerospace researchers and engineers as members here; I'm just a PR flack so I'm asking for your help. I may get a project with an organization marketing a product that they are saying is "Certified space technology." There's even a "Certified Space Technology" seal, supposedly issued by the Space Foundation: http://www.synergynusa.com/mission.asp.
Does anyone know about the "Space Foundation" and "Space Certification"?
Is this something real, or something dreamed up to make things look all sciencey and legitimate? Thanks for any help you can provide.
(Apologies if this should have gone in the "Business" subforum, but I was afraid the space science/tech folks wouldn't see it there.)

Quote:
Products and services that display the Space Certification seal are guaranteed to have stemmed from or been dramatically improved by technologies originally developed for space exploration or to have significant impact in teaching people about the value of space utilization. Developed and administered by the Space Foundation, the world's foremost advocate for all sectors of the space industry, the Space Certification program provides a marketing edge for Space Certification partners, demonstrates how space technologies improve life on Earth and makes space more interesting and accessible to everyone. Space Certification products and services have been scrutinized by the Space Foundation, working closely with NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA) and other organizations engaged in space research and development.
