A question about the debt ceiling - asked by an ignorant

This is probably a stupid question that has been discussed many times.



But the whole"debt ceiling" raising.



They just keep raising it to stop financial collapse.



When does it get to the stage where they just can't afford it anymore? When does it become untenable?
