Daniel Ellsberg: The Doomsday Machine: Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner ...

Ellsberg, once again shaking the status quo's very chore!

Something that I specially like about Ellsberg is that, since he was one of them, he is honest and really good at exposing and trying to understand the motives behind those politicians' and militaristic idiots' ideas and ideations. In general, I don't like when some people claim to read some other people's minds, know their motivations. Again, I wouldn't be able to figure out what/why/how those morally deafferented morons (and, personally, I don't believe in ideologies anymore) come to think in the ways they do.

Ellsberg worried that by being in denial about the very bad and for the most part irreversible influence that mainly "progress", "free wheeling capitalism", ... has done to our climate by (1/3) of people in the U.S. they are living like people from medieval times (when they thought for example that "the Jews" by poisoning the wells were causing the black death even though they were getting their drinking water from the same wells (surviving Jews were not dying because they had been genetically exposed to such diseases before so plenty of them had died already, but in those times they didn't know about such genetics all they knew was that "the Jews" saw Christianity as some sort of mockery, but in our days we have lots of empirical evidence that to a large extent climate change is man made)).

Leibniz wondered about "the problem of evil":

https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/leibniz-evil/

Hannah Arendt told us about "the banality of evil", but I think there is a lot more to those issues. For example, why is it that "evil" can possibly get that sophisticated, neg-entropic, self-organizing? (about which I talk in one of my poems which I dedicated to Rachel Courrie: "... we keep trying to make weapons more sophisticated and dangerous than our own stupidity ...")

Also, something I have never been able to quite understand is why do we the people put up with politicians at all? As Ellsberg said to one of his colleagues: "Sy, you have no idea how often and how effectively you are lied to" and here I am thinking about such matters from an Anthropological point of view. Is it really as they say in the Bronx, that: "people is stupid, because people is stupid"?

I will share my lines with you:

(1:45) you want them to believe you'll become something like Searcy's captives in the Odyssey who had a potion that turned men into swine they couldn't communicate like men anymore.
Did you feel like that at the time?
Yes, I was telling him what I'd gone through and I think everyone had who'd had these clearances and I must say that a year later when I was advising him to read the Pentagon Papers.

(23:00) Greta Thunberg we need a lot more Asperger's in the world ...

* not only in "our" foreign policy we have been governed wrongly for a very long time ...: "'the' land of 'the' 'free' and 'the' 'brave'" and all of that is the country with the largest domestic incarceration rate, by far.

* Could Reagan and Gorbachev strike a deal on disarmament?, were they serious about it?: Regan was hypnotized by Edward Teller into the idea of a leak proof Star Wars: an umbrella over the country ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Teller

I know the story and always thought it was some sort of mockery towards USG. I didn't know it had actors "keeping it real" for the President.

(39:00) connecting the dots of what "P" meant, layers and layers covering presidential wrong doings
(43:50) ... those presidents did it covertly, Trump did it in the open
(45:00) Nixon: when the president does it, it is not illegal
(47:40) 5*: MRing Trump: If you want my money then you do what I want.
(51:30) how many people in the audience knew the difference between an A and H bomb?
(58:00) 5* tensions between journalism vs executive powers "need" to keep secrets
(59:30) We the people could not believe the president to be lying his head off through his teeth
(1:00:30) diffs between what a president says and does what we are lead to believe including the media is like a fairy tale
(1:00:50) Sy, you have no idea how often you are lied to and how effectively you are lied to
(1:03:00) 5* close to disarmament Reagan and Gorbachev: who is serious? Russian removed all his bases, dismantled the Soviet states, ... what did USG do?
(1:04:35) 5* Regan hypnotized by Edward Teller into the idea of a leak proof Star Wars: an umbrella over the country ...
Edward Teller insisted on violating the ABM Treaty
(1:05:25) Margaret Thatcher: How could you even imagine such a thing?
(1:07:35) Reagan to Schultz (on the ABM Treaties): Am I right?
(1:08:50) Politicians trust that other people would not jeopardize "their careers"
(1:10:05) 5* Whom do you listen to get the truth? Nobody has the last word ...
(1:11:30) journalism in the digital age in times when the President attacks almost the very idea of factual truth
(1:13:35) inside folks from the FBI and CIA that would automatically dismiss what they say and would put themselves on Trump's side
(1:14:15) you can't rely on anyone to be wrong all of the time exception to that rule is: Lyndsey Graham
Naomi Oreskes: Merchants of Doubt
* but why do so many people believe such nonsense as climate change not being -to a large extent- man made
(1:21:35) "founding fathers" support of slavery in the U.S. Constitution 11 of the 15 presidents of the U.S. had owned slaves!
(1:22:30) on the Constitution: "only congress can declare war"
(1:24:00) Tulsi Gabbard: "we don't want regime change wars", we want to get out of the Middle East
(1:25:00) in foreign policy we have been governed wrongly for a very long time ...
(1:29:00) judge ruled no discussion of the legality of weapons, ...
(1:28:50) after Vietnam, we had Iraq ... Katherine Gun
(1:30:30) blackmailing every member of congress to legitimize the Iraq war ...
~
Also, something that I have noticed about Ellsberg and Snowden is that at some point they have dropped ideologies, "patriotism" and such things and start seeing things in more of an Anthropological, "people is stupid, because people is stupid" kind of way.

Politicians and their henchmen have no clothes and brains and they couldn't care about it exactly because they can't (since they have no brains ...). They kind of act with the same mannerism and invoke the same kind of ******** about being "patriotic" and all that illusive, characteristic, high-sounding pseudo-philosophical bs of theirs: "God it telling us", "greater good", "wars are good for business" ... Take, for example, the 40,000 members of the US military and 15,000 civilian employees stationed mostly in Southern Germany:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americans_in_Germany

Those people have had plenty of time and chances to ask themselves very basic questions like: "what am I doing?", "what am I doing here?", "why don't I get an effing job?", ... but instead all they care about are their uniforms, stripes and badges, "their country", ... Colin Powell, which as part of his "meteoric career trajectory" served as the main perpetrator of the Mỹ Lai massacre and very consciously lied his head off at the U.N. to "justify" the genocidal invasion of Iraq, was saying how impressed he was about "his uniform".

Ellsberg relates to us how Powell kept his own resignation letter on his desk and read it each day, but never resigned ... He also put a sh!tty face on camera because the Chinese had downed a U.S. surveillance plane "in International air space" (as USG talks). No, he didn't swing his fist on camera. It would have been way too self ridiculing, at least that he can see! He may have had realized that he had no spine to stand on and stake his brains and morality on, that all he had was "his uniform".

In order to solve the kinds of problems Ellsberg talks about we need to make these people understand that they can and should get actual jobs and work on, as AOC has said: "stopping the military/war based industry". Or putting it in another way: if "wars are good for business" why would they not attack China and Russia at once? Wouldn't that be the greatest of all businesses? What is the point of having all that superpowerness when all they do with it is, like mobsters, extrajudicially killing even minor U.S. citizens, little girls and their grandmas for threatening all that superpowerness?

Obama's press secretary Robert Gibbs offered a sociopathic justification for killing the Colorado-born teenager, apparently blaming him for his own killing by saying he should have "had a more responsible father."
