Dying In The USA

I'm dying. Terminal; no hope.

A few things.
1) Wanted to let everyone know because I hate it when frequent posters simply disappear without notice.
2) Finding it strange - I've never died before - and am sure you-all have good advice to share.
3) The things I am discovering are actually pretty interesting. I didn't know much about how to formally die in the US. Now that I'm here I want to report/record what it is like for me. I put this in the public forum hoping others might get some benefit, so I'll try to bring up the social aspects and frame it as a social issue instead of just a "What the heck happened to Marplots?" issue.

First thing - there is some push toward hospice care (I suppose if you can afford it) as opposed to palliative care. The difference is where you die and how many medical resources are spent moving you out the door.

I have VA services available and have to decide now whether to stay on hospice (home death the VA will pay for) or rather take palliative care and get admitted (not just yet, but soon) for my last week or so (which is more convenient for my wife). Tough decision to make.

Also - happy to be completely honest about stuff for the curious. No point in doing otherwise at this stage.

Also #2 - No real need for condolences (or prayers, or money). More interested in how weird it is to take on the role of dying boy.

Also #3 - I don't mind talking about euthanasia, but as far as I can tell that's not for me at all. Still wondering though. (I mean generally, absolutely not methods!)
