Apple and the (no) socket

So, the new phone from Apple won't have an actual headphone jack, this has led, as far as I can see, to great consternation all over the internet

But it's okay, Apple will sell you compatible headphones for about £160...


My phone is utterly ancient, so I don't care, I'm just amused by all the complaints. People talk about it like it's a public service and they don't have a choice not to buy the thing.
