A conversation with a relative came to mind recently. She stated her position thusly:
"No, I won't listen to what you have to say. The reason for that is I risk my immortal soul to do so. If you say something that makes me sincerely doubt my faith in God I could be condemned to Hell for that. So, to me, it's better to continue refusing to hear your arguments. Sorry, but the gamble is just too great."
My query is: Is this a cop out or a position that can be held legitimately by a believer? I ask because I cannot put that into a context where there was any worry at all.
