So I was reading yet another screed from the right about how terrible the Girl Scouts are. The latest outrage is over their decision to allow transgendered girls into their program.
It was all the usual stuff we expect from the right. Then I got to this part.
Uh, "vulnerable girls"? They are "obviously at risk"? How?
Anyone want to go to bat for this one? I'm really just not getting how allowing a transgendered girl in will put anyone at risk for anything except maybe making a new friend. Oh how terrible!
This is a line that I've seen trotted out again and again when it comes to the transgendered issue. They are so afraid of trans girls in with the other girls for some reason. There seems to be a fear of sexual assault and I can't, for the life of me, figure out why. Why fear that the transgendered will commit an assault? And why only men that are transitioning to women?

Although their cookies may be tasty, the Girl Scouts of America (GSA) has long promoted radical agendas, including teaching girls that abortion and lesbianism are normal and admirable. But now, they've gone even further to promote a sexual ideology to children. In accordance with the new policy, the GSA website now reads, "If the child is recognized by the family and school/community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, then Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe." |

In plain English, this means that families will be forced play gender make-believe and accept biological boys as girls. Boys in skirts and make-up, sharing tents with young vulnerable girls will now become an accepted part of the Girls Scouts program. This obviously puts children at risk and treats a recognized mental health problem as normative. |
