Imagine a future where there is no more scarcity. 100% of the world's population has all basic needs satisfied: food, shelter, clothing and medical care. There are no more wars or civil wars or refugees or people living in slums or worse. No more slavery or human trafficking. All of the greatest social problems have been solved or reduced to minimal levels, orders of magnitude better than today.
Would we be satisfied? Would we all be happy? Or would we just find new things, perhaps imaginary things or hypothetical things or things that seem inconsequential today to be unhappy about and worried about? Would people still suffer from depression at the same rates or commit suicide at the same rates?
