Water Well Drilling Scams (outside of Dowsing)

Hello everyone,

I recently went through the experience of drilling a well for water, since our old well did not have adequate water for us.

After asking neighbors about their wells, humoring dowsers, and fielding rates from various drillers, I decided on a water well driller with a reasonable rate and recommended from a trusted source.

This well driller used a spinning drill with a hollow center through which pressurized air/water/soap sprayed through as it drilled. Everyone I had previously talked to had used a ramming drill, which rammed its way into the ground. Is a spinning drill like this the wrong application for finding water ?

The reason I'm asking is that after using this particular drill to go 520ft into the ground/stone, I have no water. The funny part is this location is about 50ft from our old well which is 75ft deep. I'm told that it is possible a spinning drill seals up the cracks through which water would normally come through.

Can anyone make this clearer for me ?

I've suddenly become interested in what other water drilling scams are possible outside of Dowsing.

thanks
