This is the fifth time my Windows XP computer died. Should I let it R.I.P?

Back when it was the only one I had, I had little choice but to go through the enormously complicated process to rebuild my XP. Since I have basically been using it for a media player, I wonder if it's worth the effort to try to recover it this time. (No files of import were lost). The only thing I did different was go directly to the music page (thejazzgroove.com) and use the player there rather than startup Windows Media Player. It worked for a few minutes, then blue-screen-of-death. Of course, there is no way of knowing if that was related, but it is suspicious.

I did see a message saying something about a missing CONFIG file. When I reboot from the CD, it wants to rebuild the system rather than "Repair" it. (I've never had "Repair" work in all my attempts.) I know I have a recovery disk around but dang if I can find it.

I did think it was weird that I got an XP update shortly after they said they wouldn't be supporting XP any more, and one more after that, IIRC, which I did not install.

I just had my original PS3 die on me and went through the frustration of trying to transfer my game data to the new one (got most of it). I just don't feel like fiddling with operating systems for a while.
