Miscanthus - yikes ?

As some of you may be aware, Don Towers is situated in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). As some of you may also be aware, we enjoy beautiful views:

We've just received notification that the local landowner is planning to heat some properties he owns with a biomass boiler - I have no particular problem with that - fueled by growing Miscantus - I do have a problem with this. Miscanthus (or elephant grass) grows to 3m tall so we will lose all of our views. In the view above, the miscanthus will reach to the top of the garage/workshop.

Now in theory the landowner will be required to leave space for public rights of way and sightlines but previous experience of dealing with the "gentleman" leads us to believe that he will disregard this and plant right up to the fence line. Currently the fields are used for sheep grazing and are a scene of pastoral beauty - I fear it will be converted to a monculture.

I don't want to be a NIMBY getting in the way of an eco scheme but I am genuinely worried about the impact on my quality of life and on the impact on biodiversity. As far as I understand it, I have no grounds for complaining about the crop itself, after all we live in the country.

Am I worrying unnecessarily ? Do I have any grounds for complaint ?
