Just listened to an NPR segment.... The HAARP facility up in Alaska, long the subject of more conspiracy nonsense you can shake a stick at... (#4 on conspiracy-theory searches, just ahead of JFK) Is on the chopping block by the Air Force.
They were speaking with a physicist about the actual use of the thing (well, at least the "official" story... Wink, wink....) who said that the military didn't want to keep paying for it and unless they can find someone in private industry or research to buy the thing... It'll be bulldozed.
