In America, cities are increasingly segregated by class and race, which causes all sorts of social issues. But class and race being mixed also causes all sorts of social issues. Or maybe not.
So, what's up with that? I personally discount the "we have a special culture you are ruining" notion. The indirect economic cost is more interesting. But then again, I hear both those arguments even today against Section 8 (public voucher) housing. Possibly euphemistically about "those people", if you follow.
It is funny that my family moved out of the city during the white flight, which was a terrible race problem, but if I moved (apparently anywhere else) it will be another terrible race problem.
