Are we becoming numb to mass shootings?

Fresh on the heels of the UCSB shootings, up in Seattle another crazy person shot and killed one person, wounded two others before being stopped by students (without guns, it should be added)

Have we become so used to this that it doesn't even merit the usual outrage? It's just becoming the new normal, like traffic during rush hour, or TSA screenings and taking off our shoes?

Have we come to a place where we hear a story like this and feel grateful that only one person died instead of 6, or 12, or 26? Are we at the place where we rejoice that at least the victims weren't first graders?



In essence, are we becoming desensitized to death by madmen?
