Just caught this story in a side bar.
Two actors, Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting are suing Paramount Pictures over alleged "sexual abuse" perpetrated by deceased director, Franco Zeffirelli who, they allege, encouraged them to do nude scenes despite previous assurances that they would not have to in the film Romeo and Juliet.
This was back in 1968 and they have only now come forward because of a California law that has temporarily suspended the statute of limitations. They were 15 and 16 respectively at the time of filming and are now 72 and 71 respectively.
Hussey is on record in previous interviews saying in 2018 in Variety,
The same year with Fox News she said,
Now, both are claiming that they, "have suffered emotional damage and mental anguish for decades as a result of the way they were treated." and are suing for more than $500m (£417m).
there is no argument, from me in any case, that the suit has some merit and deserves to be heard. What do you think?
Full story here, what chance of success?

"Nobody my age had done that before," she said, adding that Zeffirelli shot it tastefully. "It was needed for the film." |

Hussey said she felt at ease on set. I think because it was done very tastefully, she explained. And in Europe, it was very different. In America, it was very taboo. But in Europe a lot of the films had nudity. Nobody really thought much of it. But it was just the fact that I was 16 that got a lot of publicity The large crew we worked with was whittled down to only the very basic people, a handful of people. It was done later in the day when it wasnt busy. It was a closed set... If you see it, the reality is these two young kids married against their parents wishes and have this one night together and then they die And it wasnt really banned in any country And we shot it at the very end of the film. So by that time weve all become a big family It wasnt that big of a deal. And Leonard wasnt shy at all! In the middle of shooting, I just completely forgot I didnt have clothes on. |
