An Ohio man was arrested in 2016 for creating a parody Police Department Facebook page. He then sued the Police Department for violating his First Amendments rights, and lost his case. He's now taking the case to the Supreme Court, and The Onion has provided him with an amicus curiae brief.
The brief is available here. It starts like this:
"The Onion is the worlds leading news publication, offering highly acclaimed, universally revered coverage of breaking national, international, and local news events. Rising from its humble beginnings as a print newspaper in 1756, The Onion now enjoys a daily readership of 4.3 trillion and has grown into the single most powerful and influential organization in human history."
And carries on from there. The whole thing is worth reading, and it's not that long.
