It all started with a n innocent comment - RW encounter w/ 9/11 "truther" CD advocate

Since I retired from the PD, I've held the position of chief of security with a SF peninsula based corporation.

Two of us, the GM and myself, oversee the operational end and manage the facility owned by our employer.

Because of the nature of our operation and the location, we maintain a close relationship with local authorities and utility providers, including P.G. & E. When we have issues w/ either our or our tenant's service we've had a specific P.G. & E. supervisor assigned on a long term basis to our property.

The current individual has been around for m/l 5 years.

Two fridays ago, there was an issue with one of their transformers that is located on our property, and our guy came out to supervise the crew.

When he checked in at my office, the GM, myself and the super started talking about general issues.

The subject of the most recent P.G. & E. fires came up, and the wheels fell off.

The P.G. & E. employee went off on how the most recent fires are part of a conspiracy against P.G. & E., based on the description of a shut down unit failing when the power was restored.

My comment that kicked off the festivities - "Anything electromechanical can fail, that's why you bring at least two guitars and two amps to a gig." - Nothing more.

At that point P.G. & E. man went from 0 to 100 without a shift.

He went right to 9/11. The WTC was destroyed by a CD, etc. Anybody that believes differently is an idiot.

I told him that there is a significant problem with any theory claiming that explosives were used in the collapse of the buildings, namely that secondary high explosives burn off quickly w/o detonating when exposed to fire and that in fact, outside of E.P.A. concerns about explosive material residue, burning is the industry standard for destroying outdated stocks of explosive material.

This had -0- effect, as the next hot question (and the guy was hot - the GM is the one that has described the guy as going from 0-100) was...wait for it.."What about building 7?"

I answered him. It had no effect but the GM hustled him out of my office before things went further south.

What happened out of my eye and earshot was told to me by the GM. The guy was seriously pissed. The GM first started to use humor to defuse the issue, telling the guy that since I was Sicilian, he had to take my word for how explosives worked. That did not have the desired effect, as he then told the GM, Aren't you Sicilian? (which to him isn't necessarily a compliment) and the GM informed the P.G. & E. man that he was Genovese - "like Christopher Columbus."

According to the GM, it was like throwing gasoline on a fire. The guy went into some nonsense about Genoa, which I believe indicates that this guy may be an Icke fanboy (The Black Nobility of Genoa figuring in Icke's "theories") at which point the GM simply told him why he should listen to me about the subject matter.

According to the GM, the guy's answer was "OK, he might know about explosives, but I know THE BUSHES! emphasis in the actual conversation.

Nothing further to report, but there are still 9/11 CT wingnuts out and about.
