In the conversation around Brexit it seems that many British citizens are applying for citizenship in Ireland or other EU countries. I imagine the benefits are easy to justify for them.
My question is whether that would be worthwhile for an American who rarely travels to Europe, say once every five years or so.
My grandmother was born in Ireland, so I think I qualify, but I don't really understand what the benefits would be and whether it is worth the effort.
i also note that if I had done so prior to my kids being born they could have done the same, but I didn't so they don't have that opportunity now. So that takes one reason off the table.
