My wife mentioned to me just now that lately some of her patients have mentioned odd questioning at the border and in some cases being barred entry. What I found the most shocking was the one story of someone who was asked how she felt about Trump. She answered honestly and was barred entry for 5 years. Religious questioning was mentioned several times as well.
These are anecdotal stories that I'm getting third hand, I realize. I did a bit of googling and found a few articles such as this one at Macleans:
https://www.macleans.ca/politics/was...da-u-s-border/
The troubling part, imo, is the mention of "...questions about her religion and her opinions about Donald Trump."
Obviously the U.S. is a sovereign nation and can screen the border however it deems fit. It just seems troubling that religion and opinion of Trump seem to be forefront in the questioning.
Has anyone else heard of this recently?
