Mother says sons were reported to police at CSU because they are Native American (CSU = Colorado State University, in Ft. Collins. I went to college there back in the 1990's.)
The article somewhat understates the interaction between the potential students and police. The two kids were frisked and ordered to empty their pockets. They don't seem to have been cuffed or taken into custody, though.
Tour guide 'genuinely sorry' for incident involving Native American students
The Student Tour guide apologized to the mother of the two potential students on a fairly lengthy FB post:

The mother who actually called the police has not been identified or made any comment.

The Gray brothers joined a campus tour after it already started. According to CSU administrators, another parent on the tour became nervous by the presence of two young men who joined the tour while it was in progress. When police arrived, officers spoke to the teens and realized they had done nothing wrong and were part of the tour. The siblings called their mother to let her know what happened. By that point, the tour group moved on without them. |
