Russians can't keep themselves from lying about everything all of the time

Quote:

When SVT host Anders Holmberg says to the Russian Ambassador to Sweden that Russia occupied Crimea the ambassador reacts forcefully. - We have not occupied any country, he said.
- Crimea has always been a part of Russia, said Russian Ambassador to Sweden Victor Tatarintsev to SVT News.

He believes that Russia never sent any military to the Crimean peninsula.

- We have not occupied any country, said Victor Tatarintsev to SVT News.

But your president claimed that?

- There was one Russian military base in the Crimea, but it did not matter. The most important thing was that they had had a referendum and a majority of the population voted to be part of Russia.

...

But the ambassador thinks it's ridiculous to see Russia as a threat.

- We have not been a threat to Sweden.

Russia's intention to occupy the island of Gotland, or important strategic objects in Sweden, lacks the full sense of reality says Victor Tatarintsev.

- We have no plans to invade Sweden, the Swedish population can sleep in peace.

It's bizarre that people somehow get the impression that Russians can be trusted. Even when they are trying to reassure people they can't keep themselves from making the most obvious and outrageous lies. Russian society is built from the ground up on lies, deceit and subterfuge.
