It is a little too early to tell, but I wonder what will happen to the people within Hillary's inner circle. Certainly, they had their next 4 to 8 years mapped out and that has now changed. I've just had the following musings and was wondering what others thought.
Hillary Clinton - Will she still want to be involved in politics and the Democratic Party leadership? She is at the age and has plenty of money to retire comfortably. She could also continue to make speeches along with her husband. I don't know how much thought she had put into a contingency plan, but I'm curious as to her next step.
Huma Abedin - I don't know much about her but watching the Weiner documentary was fascinating. I really felt sorry for her as her husband put her into a difficult situation. She is not comfortable in the limelight and appeared to try really hard to support her husband's campaign. Once she had decided to leave him after his latest scandal it seemed she had a pretty good situation on which to focus. For the next 4 years at least she would be at the President's side and have her ear. She would be in the heart of the DC political world and set up well for a very substantial career. She is still young and seems to me very smart and ambitious, but what now? Does she have a job and where do you think she will end up?
Clinton Foundation - Bill and Hillary will always be a big draw and I expect the foundation to continue. I have had questions though regarding the apparent "pay to play" accusations. At least now, without a direct link to the Executive branch, the amount of donations made to the foundation from foreign entities over the next few years will answer that question one way or the other.
What about Cheryl Mills, Jake Sullivan, ....?
