I can across this video a few days ago. In it a guy folds a piece of paper in a press to test the idea that paper cannot be folded more than 7 times. On the 7th fold in the press, the paper sort of explodes. Afterwards, the paper appears to be very brittle, almost like plastic.
I was wondering what would cause this to happen? Any ideas? I couldn't really find out anything with my Google Fu. In any case, it's still a fairly interesting video.
The "explosion" is around the 2:10 mark. Also, it may be NSFW because the guy shouts WTF.
