Reporting a kid's bomb threat

My daughter is a Primary (elementary) school teacher. Her school is in a very multi-cultural area.

Today one of her 10 year old students told her he can't wait to grow up so he and his father can wear bomb vests and kill Australians. In front of the whole class.

My daughter is an extremely calm and sensible woman, and felt that she should have simply ignored this bit of silliness, but consulted a more senior colleague. She was told that she simply must report this to Australia's anti-terrorism hotline.

Quote:

The National Security Hotline is the single point of contact for the public to report possible signs of terrorism. It also provides information to callers on a wide range of national security matters.
Small pieces of information can help protect Australia from terrorism. Australia's national security agencies are working hard but members of the public can help them complete the picture.

So she did. In all probability, this kid's comment will not be acted out. But what if if did in years to come?

I'm on the fence over this. I feel that my daughter did the only thing she could do. It wasn't a private comment, it was in front of the class. Comments?
