Some musings by a non expert, but isn't it intriguing how different facial types developed in different continents or regions of the world? It is likely that modern humans came to the Americas from diverse places in the Europe Africa combine as well as largely from Asia. There are these 2 connected continents, 2 Americas + Africa/ Europe running practically from pole to pole so as to be perfect receivers for stray ships/boats.
The numbers involved in migration thru the Bering Straits to America may have totally drowned out non Asian features, resulting in a Mongolian look. Australians are said to have migrated down from Asia and they don't look like Asians but more like Africans. How about the radical difference in appearance between Asia Indians and Chinese? Especially since they exist side by side.
( The Asian migration to America could have been a slow nudging of territory into new areas rather than expeditions). Makes me think there are many human fossil remains yet not found, and those that are found are just small samples in a huge base. I can't wait to find out what the next big discovery will bring.
