Making it Rain?

My wife is heavily into woo. Any odd sound in the house is automatically attributed to the paranormal. I'm not into woo, but I'm probably less skeptical than most here.

Anyway, ten days ago, we had had a bit to drink and she says, "Let's make it rain." I roll my eyes, but play along. What the heck. So she has me do all these relaxation techniques and visualizations of rain. I'm game, and it was kind of fun, like meditation.

About a week later, we're all set for our New York trip. We land at JFK, and of course, it's raining. I roll my eyes again, but admit it's a little odd. I believe her when she says she didn't look at the extended weather forecast. But I don't know anything about New York, and I figure they get occasional rain showers in the Summer. No big deal. Coincidence.

Today, we flew back to L.A., landed at LAX (we live in drought stricken California), and it's raining. The first rain we've had in ages. It had also rained at my house about 60 miles Northwest of L.A. (although we got in too late to actually see the rain come down at the house).

I didn't roll my eyes this time, but I'm not convinced anything weird happened. But I'm not convinced anything weird didn't happen, either. It always comes back to the central question: at what point does the coincidence explanation become irrational? How long do the odds have to be?
